Pacific American Securities Appoints James Ferguson
Senior Vice President and Director of International Trading
January 03, 2008
SAN DIEGO - Pacific American Securities, LLC (PAS), a San Diego
based institutional broker dealer, announced today that James Ferguson has
been appointed as Senior Vice President and Director of International Trading
for the firm.
Before joining Pacific American, James had eight years of global institutional trading
experience in London and New York with particular expertise in relating macro perspectives of
international markets to price action and events relevant to our clients' interests.
Mr. Ferguson leads the PAS expansion in international trading. As its director, Mr. Ferguson
covers all major European financial centers in addition to all U.S. markets. The Pacific
American International trading division is one of very few in the United States for any certified
Minority Business Enterprise/Woman Business Enterprise.
Previously, Mr. Ferguson was director of Institutional Specialty Sales with CIBC World Markets
Corp. In New York, having joined CIBC in 2000 in London as director of Institutional Equity Sales.
Prior to his career as an institutional trader, Mr. Ferguson studied music technology at
Kingsway College, London, from which he graduated in 1997. He has instructed drum and percussion
at the Royal Guildhall School of Music, London.
Of the formative place of music as his avocation, Mr. Ferguson has observed:
"Passively listening to music does not
make anyone smarter. It is the practice of music, however, that brings clarity of understanding
and interpretation of abstract events. As an instructor at the Royal Guildhall of Music, my
goal was to encourage the development of student skills far beyond their excited action. Their
mastery of percussion supported their grasp of the structure and rhythm of emerging patterns.
The next step, and only the best students will achieve this in their carrers, is for them to
understand how their intellectual preoccupations will relate to and shape their music and give
it direction, intent, and weight in the world."
Mr. Ferguson holds Series 17, 55 and 63 licenses, and is also qualified by the U.K. Financial Services
Authority as a Securities Representative and Futures and Options Representative. He is a member of the
Association of Technical Trading Professionals (U.K.).
